I researched it here and now i want your opinion. I have a 2004 tracker deep v 16 targa with a mercury 50 elpto. It seems that i have been told the boat is underpowered since its max rating is for a 90 hp. The problem i am having is that the boat does not seem to plane all the way and i thing that may be contributing to my slower top speed issue since the bow does seem on the high side @ wot. What are your thoughts. Thanks

Re: hydrofoil for my application?

HI, I think it would most definitely help your situation as the hydrofoils help to plain out. On my boat in my pics has the max rated hp I think it helps for sure I plain in less12sec with the factory suggested prop for my merc 50 which is 10.38x13P but your boat is heavier and if your not going to repower it's worth 50$ to try I have the stingray model on mine but there are cheaper ones and Ebay too hope this helps

thabks for the response and your opinion. I went and bought a sport se 300 today. I will be installing it tomorrow and trying it out on sat. I hope this helps out. I was looking at the smart tabs but i dont like the idea of drilling into my transom.

Why don't you take your present engine and the money yer spending trying to make your underpowered boat go, and just buy the engine it needs?

Re: hydrofoil for my application?

I boought the boat for $6000, so spending another $3500-6000 to repower my boat seems pointless. I am not looking to make my boat go 40mph, I am simply trying to slove a planing issue. I love how people think its easier to just repower a boat in stead of working with what you have,
Seriously? spend $50 on a hydrofoil, or spend $5000 on an engine hmmmm thats a tough one
