Hey all I was wondering what the general views are on these hydrofoil things. I just got my boat last year and It had one on. Never thought to much of it till I started sifting here and I'm seein there pretty shotty. I noticed when I'm goin and adecent cruise the bow feels like its being pushed down.then if I trim to lift the bow I'm now shooting a giant water spray behind me. Is this because of the fin?
Basically I'm wondering how to fix this problem and if I should even use the hydro
Foil

Thanks all.

Best thing since sliced bread, IMO. Mr. Doelscher was a genious. Works on all of my boats, except the once that didn't need fixin in the first place.

Prove it to yourself - Take it off and compare the before and after.

I don't get a water spray unless I trim up beyond what is needed for performance.

You sir have a lot of boats haha. So the bow feeling like its being forced down is a normal thing

It sounds to me like the fins are not allowing you to trim properly. I'd take them off and see how it performs. Certainly easy enough to put back on if you miss 'em.

No, not normal. Trim the motor to where you get the performance you are looking for, then look to find out where the spray is coming from.

The spray depend on the type of foil. I know that the "Stingray" one piece type will give an almost vertical spray. The 2-piece foil doesn't do that. I still think that smart tabs are MUCH better though.

I'm not sure what kind of foil it is. Its white super crappy looking and all chipped. As well as the spray seems to.be coming from the prop. Almost like its trimmed up too much, but if I trim down it feels like the bow is being forced down

If it looks like the picture, I can explain why the water is being shot up. Because it's one piece. Some water always get's ontop of the anti-cavitation plate, it get's funneled (Spelling??) beteen the foil and the drive. When it hits the back of the foil, it's forced almost straight up.

Yup that's it. Just white, and all sorts of chipped and missing small chunks.

FWIW - my boat had a two-piece type foil on when I bought it. I wound up taking it off two years ago and really didn't notice any appreciable difference. It depends on the boat and how you're loaded and balanced - YMMV.
