Hydrofoil / Planeing question

I have a Force 85 horse on a 15 1/2 foot v-hull (Winner brand 69 model). The boat is rated for a 8o horse. The nose of the boat seems to be to low and drags the boat speed down. Could it just be the older design of the hull that is the problem? Would I need to tilt the motor back a natch on the engine mount? Raise or lower the motor? Use a hydrofoil? Any suggestions....thanks for the help.

Re: Hydrofoil / Planeing question

Tipping the motor up some will raise the front, but it will take longer to get on plane.
Adding a hydrofoil such as a Doelfin will get your boat onto plane quicker and add to the stability on the ride as well as decrease the steering effort. It will also drop your top speed some.
I assume that you don't have power trim, so you'll have to find a happy medium. How you load the boat fore and aft plays into the equation also. Good luck
