I have these on my Johnson 110 pushing a 17' bass boat, do I need them, what do they do, thank you.
+1they are the first thing i take off a motor when i get one.
they are suppose to add lift to the stern of the boat. but they do it in the wrong way.
the foils are mounted to the bottom of the motor, which is mounted to the top of the transom. the up pressure is at the top of the transom.
Smart tabs, are mounted to the bottom of the transom, and does the lifting where it is suppose to be applied. reducing stress, on the transom, and stress on the motor itself.
Nauticus, now has blemished tabs on sale in the iboats store, these are exactly the same, but, were scratched or some minor.
here they are an i highly recommend them.
