I just got my stingray jr. in the mail today from cabelas. when... i get this motor running good i plan to put it on the 7.5 to push the 12ft john. they said that its the only one built for motors 1/2 to 40hp. it claims to " get the boat on plane faster." " inproves controll" "no more bounceing around" "no more sliding to the side" beter gas mileage" "and more speed" this is what i just read from the back of the box and from the catolog. what can i expect from this add on? i was pleased with the way the motor pushed the boat when it was'nt even running good. will this make it even better when it dose run well. 12ft john scoots when motor runs good.

With a 7.5 about all the hydrofoil will do is slow it down. Still, no harm in trying it out.

Your planing time will be reduced, and it should help any porpoising problems you have as well as keeping you "on step" at a lower RPM. Properly installed, drag should be negligible. I personally love the things. Let us know how it works in your application.

There is a new type of hydrofoil over here called perafoil (I think) <br />they are addvertised as the only ones you can stand on if you are that way inclined.<br /><br />they also advertise no loss in top speed.. as they look different to normail stingray types..<br /><br />it might be worth considering for smaller applications.<br /><br /><br />rgds<br /><br />Frank
