can not tell you if there is a need for you or not. On my pontoon I have a wide flat metal one that flattens out the turbulent water that comes off the tunes some which helps the prop bite better. It really does nothing for the tilt trim, or bow up down of the boat. Each boat is different so it might actually hurt your performance
