ok all I need some help here as I am not sure where to start took the boat out the other day I got to the ramp and went to set the reverse lock on the tongue however the stupid little lever came off in my hand as far as I can tell it simply connected to a little steel cable. I just am not sure and I want to try and get it fixed in the next day or two so if anyone has a suggestion let me know. I am 2 pics that may help

that is an atwood unit. I dont like the atwood as much as I liked my titan/dico

the surge brake head looks like its time to replace it. I would look into a new one.

I am going to assume you have drum brakes. If so, they may be "free backing" and it's not necessary to lock them out while backing.

they aren't free backing at-least not as far as I can tell after it broke we said screw it and were going to launch the boat anyway but needless to say the trailer stopped the truck dead in its tracks.

if anyone is familiar with atwood brakes I am curious is the steel cable in the coupler what the handle moves or how does it work

The steel cable is likely the break away cable. What lever were you pulling on, the one on top? That is not a reverse lockout.

Re: hydrolic brake reverse lock

Bruce, there is a reverse lever on the side of the atwood actuators, normally located in the curved slot.

Yonu, you can buy new parts, however by the time you buy a few of the parts, you have spent more than a new brake actuator head.
