I'm in the process of redoing an old aluminum boat I have acquired. The registration says its a year unkown shoreline 15ft. aluminum. The boat is like a cross between a flat bottom and a deep V. The nose has a high V but the rest of the boat has a flat bottom. I'm planning on using this boat mainly in rivers for fishing. I have a 15hp mercury jet that I am planning on using. Has anyone ever seen a boat that uses two levers on the side of the driver to steer, similar to the new zero turn mowers. I think that this would be a fun way to get around the shallow waters. I think that I could get this to work with a very simple pulley system. Just curious if anybody else has tried it and can maybe give me some pointers.
