I have a friend that just got a (I think a'73 HV) and is restoring it. I have experience with wood stringers wood floors etc but can anyone shed some light on what are the floor, stringers and transom made of in this boat. I seem to recall a term balsa core ? How do you do a resto if this is what it is. I just don't have any experience with this stuff.........
Thanks,

Don

Ayuh,... You could buy more Balsa Coring material, or use Plywood...

I don't think that is a vector, probably a viper. They have balsa core reinforced hulls with plywood stringers and floors. Quit a bit of work to replace. I am restoring a vector now in my spare time. I want to use composite materials in my restoration but haven't decided exactly what to use yet. Your viper can be a very fast and fun boat to drive. Good luck and if you decide not to keep it I am sure you can find someone that would. Post it on hydrostreamforums and you will get some response. screamand fly is a good site also.
