My pre-1985 H-50 helm blew the helm shaft seal and spewed hydraulic fluid everywhere.<br /><br />I got the seal kit but am not sure where the "middle" o-ring should be seated. I got the two upper seals around the shaft in OK, and the three pump seals are fine.<br /><br />Should the middle O-ring go AROUND the nylon hub that holds the balls, or does it seat AGAINST the crown of the nylon hub.<br /><br />My best guess from the diagrams is that it goes around the nylon hub. The original was dried out and broken into 6 or 8 pieces, so I am not sure where it came from.<br /><br />The helm is in and working fine, but I am not confident that the seal is in correctly.<br /><br />TIA <br />Bollard
