My wife and I bought a boat today. It's a 1972 sixteen foot Deck Boat with a 55 HP Yamaha. We left just as it started snowing. I hadn't even checked the weather so didn't realize that there was a snowfall coming. Anyway here is the boat:
Boat and Truck
and the motor:
I had a post earlier asking about how to tell if there is wet foam under the deck. I don't have to worry about that now. The seller told me that when he was replacing the deck he removed about 600 pounds of wet Styrofoam. No idea why it was there. I didn't say anything.
Anyway, I was glad to get the boat home as I wasn't positive how the trailer would handle the 85 mile trip. But no problems. Except that parking in my back yard didn't work as I had hoped. I have to back in a city alley while dodging electric poles and due to the neighbors garages I can't quite make the 90 degree turn into my yard. So we got the boat in, unhooked it and pushed it the last few feet. I'd rather it was up against the house instead of by the alley, but I'll work on that some more when the snow melts.
Tomorrow I'm off to buy a bigger tarp to cover it with. I also need a spare tire, trolling motor, deep cycle battery, battery charger and a trailer lock.
I work next weekend, so it'll be two weeks before I can take it out. But we are all excited.
Sorry if the pics are too large. But I just created a photobucket account for iboats. And I swear that the pics on photobucket have been resized to 640 x 480. Yet every preview I do here they are 1024 X 768.
It's like there is a first attempt copy that is not being overwritten by the changes I made. Anyway, I wanted to get this post out and brag.
