This is a 1977 mercury in line 6, 1150.
I replaced the trigger in the distributor. But can only hear the beeps inside the distributor.
I connect the high lead from the coil to the spark test kit. It lights up when cranking the flywheel clockwise.

I guess it is fault of the high lead connected to the distributor, because there is no continuity between the high lead end at coil side and bottom of the distributor inside.

I did pull out the high lead from the house and found out that is just bare wire, without any clap as the coil side does. I tried very hard to push it in and finally can see the continuity some times. I tried whole night to make it work but failed.

First I want to make sure it IS the high lead connection's fault.
Secondly, please someone teach me a correct way to connect these to the house. There are some other connection to work too, because I also pulled out some spark lines to check what these connections are. They must be faulty too by now.

Thanks.
