Ok, as a new boat owner who hasn't even gotten their boat, and won't until Spring, and then will have to winterize it next fall, I think I might just take you up on that advice!
As to the entire thread, I can see where you folks find the funny, but I can also see where folks get confused.
I bought this damnable boat, did all my research, got excited, talked the wife into it, and then struck a deal that has the dealer storing the boat for me. I don't even get to stare at it in my driveway until the Spring.
So, to abate my need to 'enjoy my purchase', I've been coming here and reading for, oh, 2 or 3 hours a day.
Anyway, there are so many threads on winterization, and so many different ideas on the best way to do it, that it's a little confusing.
All I know right now is that my 4.3L has 2 drains on the motor and 2 drains on the manifolds, and that they need to be drained....and poked with a clothes hanger or something.
I also know that some people prefer to put antifreeze in their engine, and some like to make sure that they're dry and call it quits.
I know that adding antifreeze from a set of muffs and a bucket is a very controversial subject.
I know that winterization is a good time to change your oil and the fluid in your lower end, and that every few years a new impeller is a good idea.
That's all I know, though...I don't even know how to get a service manual for my engine yet, as its an 08 and the AO section only goes to 06.
I also know that I know enough to know that I don't really know squat.
