Hello, I just pulled a boat motor out of the trash at our freindly neiborhood
goodwill. It's missing the cover but thats it. I think it's a McCoulloch, scott division. It's a 7.5 serial # 62300710-4057. I think it's a "62" but not sure.
there is no model # that I can see and the tag is not scratched up at all.
I think it's a shifter prob but not sure. I took the foot off but the water pump won't come down , the shifter lever moves and I'm not sure how to disconect it. Also I would like to know where I can buy parts for it. Everything looks good up top and there's really good suction when I place my fingers over the spark plug holes. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
(more to come) Oh ya, it's a twin cylinder.

Yes it does appear to be a 62.7.5 hp @ 4,500,Champion H10J plug set at .035,points set at .020.Tillotson,or Marvel Schebler carb.Originally a 40:1 fuel mix.Requires powerhead removal to remove the lower unit.A service manual would be a big help.
I believe McCulloch was first with a low profile 7.5 and 9hp.Perhaps in 61.
From my very limited experience they are a pain to work on.
The scott guy at "ask The scott guy" or www.aomci.org may be able to help.

A pain to work on for sure. The plastic (not fiberglass) covers did not hold up and are pretty rare.

Thanks. I found out it is a "Fisher scott " engine made by McCulloch. I found the cover but it's all in peices. I'll glue it back together. Also found a pull start for it, 40 bucks. Now if I can just get the shifting linkage back together I'll be doing perty dang good ! Thanks again
