Can't believe I was banging on this keyboard till 11:40 last night. No wonder I felt tired when I looked at the time icon on the screen and saw the time.

-------------

Anyhow I have been boring you with the tales of my little tin can and thought you might enjoy this. (You might even wander over there and find a deal you can't refuse on a prop for your boat.)

Moving along: Bought the boat B4 Christmas with a Ballistic 17P and it was GROSSLY under propped. You don't want to know where the rpm's went when I got on it the first time.....yes they came right back down as soon as my muscles could pull the throttle.....to think this guy has been running this rig for 2 years like that. He did say that he had a trememdous hole.......10-4 on that. Grin

So I went to MWC and got another Ballistic, 21 this time, (I liked the prop and staying with the same style and mfgr reduced some unknowns) which did really good, but my rpm's were still at 6250. Merc rates WOT at 5000 to 5500. I believe them as when I cut her back to 5500 she purrs instead of screams......

Been wanting to prop up but having just blown $300+ (TTL) on the 21 I really couldn't see it.

So this morning I was logging on to see how things were going on a couple of porposing problems we have on here (other forum, not props) and I noticed an ad from iboats for discount props. Hmmmmmmm my inquisitive mind thinks.

So I bop over to their site (iboats props), dial in the critical stuff and WOW!!!!!!! Up pops a sale on the Ballistic 13 1/2 x 24 SS for $154 TTL. It took me all of about 30 seconds to have the credit card out and the order was placed. I didn't even have time to think about it.

Now this boat is 17' (sharp nose...no weight), padded, aluminum, and lightweight, with a 300# Merc 90, me, 10 gal of gas, 3 batt, a couple of tackle boxes and rods. So the usual numbers on changing pitch I doubt will apply here. Performance should move up significantly and even though I am going up 3" in pitch, I doubt the rpm's will drop 3x200 in the process.

So, next week I should have her installed and out for a run (with my replaced thermostat that you guys talked me into replacing rather than leaving it out...Ha) and I will let you know what happened.

I'm excited cause I know it's gonna be good. Gotta remember to remove my trim tab so I don't hit it as the current21 is only 3/4 inch from it. Have a no feedback steering system(with my new steering cable that works so smoothly)so I don't expect too much of an adverse reaction when I remove it. What I will probably do is just cut off the spike and polish her up, reinstalling the disc without it. Course Merc makes a thin one that may be an option, but we'll see.

Geez, life is good.

Mark

Mark, my Raker runs about 1/2" from the tab with no problems...My scorpions hit the tab so I took a quarter inch off and reshaped.
My hard steering torque is during hole-shot, so I leave the tab on, but on plane the tab is about an inch clear of the water.

Hey Kenny, How you doin man? I thought about what you did and that is to modify the existing tab just enough to clear the prop. So when she arrives, we'll see.

Man, I have only bought 2 things from iboats, the thermostat kit and this new prop. I am duly satisfied with their prices and their service.......and their forums.

Later,

Mark

 Were in the same boat ( ) just picked up a ss rapture for $133.00 21x14.25. I really hope it was a real post and not a error in pricing.

:D What is absolutely hilarious is the fact that a 100 or 2 really dosnt affect my overall budget rebuilding this boat, but getting that prop for that price is pretty cool. So much so i havn't even checked my email confirming the order, it will probalby ruin my day.

I love iBoats they have the older hustler props. For 50 dollars I don't worry to much about messing up the prop. Which I have done twice now. Got me a depth finder to fix that issue maybe.
