I'm trying to order an oem manual for my johnnyrude. I was told when I bought it the motor is a 1988 150 hp Evinrude. I deciphered the # on the mount and came up with 1982 150 Johnson. I'm wondering if this part was changed out at some point or maybe I was just lied to. I searched the forum and found references to a plug in the block that has a model # on it. Can anyone give me speciffic directions to the location of this plug? fore, aft, port, starboard, up, down? Is there an appreciable difference in those two models? When did they introduce VRO?
thanks guys, I'm looking dumber by the minute.

Post the model number you found on the transom clamp. Also the welch plug is between the heads in the upper center of the block. Code for year model is INTRODUCES "I-1 N-2 T-3 R-4 O-5 D-6 U-7 C-8 E-9 S-0" since 1980.

:)

The model number plug on a crossflow is on top of the block over the starboard bank on the flat surface. On some later motors it was on the port side.

If its been removed there will still be the round raised area where it used to be.
