I need some help Please in the prop department.

My boat is a 15 Foot Zodiac Futura Mark lll sport with a 2009 50HP Evinrude E-Tec .
The prop I put on her is a 13-1/4x17 Stainless steel Turning Point Express it works like a hot dam. But seems to drag a bit and is sluggish.I think this is to big and heavy for this motor notenough HP to move this prop.WHat do you all think?
The numbers it is getting WOT are 5200RPM and 50Km/hr This is with 300lbs in the boat if I loda the boat up it drops to 43 Km/hr.

The motor is recommended by evinrude that it runs at 5800RPM WOT

So my question to you all is what do I do to get more top end and get the RPM up to 5800 I think I should be able to go way faster then 50KM/hr with this rig.

What is your opinion on the Rubex Solas aluminum. 3 blade or 4 blade?
What about the Turning Point Hustler Aluminum.

I am thinking which ever Prop I choose I need to be somewhere around the
13-1/4x19 size. Maybe even 20

cheers

Re: I feel the need for speed

You are running 5200 rpm with a 17" pitch prop. If you go to a 19" or 20" you are only going to bogg the engine down more. You need to go in the other direction. I would try a 15" pitch cupped prop (many of the high-end stainless steel props are cupped from the factory). I would expect this to put you in the 5600 rmp range, depending on load and trim.

Usually don't recommend going from ss to al but the Turning Point Hustler performs very well. You could try a 15 and see how it goes.
If you don't have any ventilation(cavitation) problems now you might try raising ther motor a hole at a time to a point just before problems.Be sure it pumps water.

Re: I feel the need for speed

Thank you Both for the advice I am going to get a Aluminum Hustler in 13-1/4x15 and if it is what I am looking for I will follow it up with the SS same pitch and keep the others as spares.

Cheers
