One of my mares foaled out today. The stud is a throughbred and it shows in the baby. Little bitty body and LONG legs. Should have another one in a few days.

Thats great news. Do you also imprint them when they are born? We did with our friends colt and she was easy to break. Right from birth we put baby blankets on her back and brushed her, lifted her legs and put ropes on her ect. to this day she is a great trail horse for the kids. my horse is getting broke this summer. He is 1/2 quarter and 1/2 palamino .
I'm with heycods pic. Please
serenity

Serenity- I am a big beleiever in imprinting. This is our second baby. The first one the imprinting worked great on. I was able to start about 15 minutes after it was born. With this one she was half a day old when I found here. This is the mares first baby and she is very leary of us right now. This mare is usually your buddy, rubs on ya, wants to be your freind, etc. Not now. The ears are laid back from across the pasture and she watches your every move. I did get to touch the filly today, right before I took this pic. I don't stall my horses but I do have a 20X20 corral that I will work with her in the next couple of days. Just got to feed momma in the pen and then move momma out while keeping baby in. I'm no horse expert by anymeans but I'll have advice ready if ya need it. No cowboy here or rodeo star either. I ride about an hour or two a month, just enough to keep the horses remembering that I am allowed on their backs.

It still befounds me how the colts legs are just as long as their mom's and then they finally grow into them
serenity

In this view you can see alomost all of my horses. Don't notice the skinniness, grass is non-existant along with hay, I do the best I can. One of them is to the right and not in the pic. If you look in the right hand corner you can see a gray blur. That would be Mo. Santa used Mo to help pull the sleigh and he couldn't go any further so Santa left him at our house for my 4 yo daughter to watch over. I couldn't get rid of that thing for nothing. Mo is great. At only 7 months of age or so I have him used to a bit in his mouth and he actually responds to it. The 4 yo is doing the "breaking" if you will. Really they are growing up together. I would never do this on a horse but its working great with this little donkey.

The second horse from the left is daddy. He's registered AHQA but his lineage is thoroghbred. He was gonna be a race horse but got his leg caught in a fence and tore the tendons up real bad. His great grandpa is Dash For Cash, one of the all time greats. Notice how tall he is. He has about a foot on my mares, and they ain't small at all. The mare on the left will be the next to foal in a day or so. The palomino third from left will be next, I figure 3-4 months on her, don't really know. The gray-palamino in the middle and an arabian not in the pic should also come at about the same time. Lots of work ahead for me, hope they sell for a decent price.
