I got followed

A week ago ,I loaded my boat and was eating supper at the ramp.A couple in their high seventys came up,started talking and asked me what I used for bait.I showed them.Today,my wife and me put in and headed to ourhoney-hole.We caught two eighteen-inch Rainbows right quick.Here come the same couple.We headed in another direction to decoy them away from ourhoney-hole.They followed us for two hours.We didnt catch any and they didnt either.Finally they gave up and left.We then went back to our spot and caught three more.Lost five more.Plus,we lost two hours fooling with them.I dont mind telling someone what im using,BUT Im not showing my place.My wife chewed me for showing the bait.

"I don't have time for that Tom Sawyer stuff!"<br /><br />One way to fool them is to keep a couple small bags of popcorn aboard - then you do what rodbolt said & start yammering on the VHF about the birds working...when you dump a bag of popcorn over, the birds WILL be working! Sucks 'em in, every time!<br /><br />Then you just slink off back to your hotspot!

Still laughing, had the same thing happen once. was in a new area trying diff spots this same bloke kept on moving when we did, until we opened the 3 day old bait box.Boy i wished i left with him did it stink.

My brother-in-law, whom I beleived could charm a fish out of the ocean, offered to tell me his lucky spot if I promised not to reveal it to anyone. I responded, "Don't tell me."<br />That was over 30 years ago and I still feel that way today.<br />I have no problem letting anyone know where I've been fishing. Shareing is half of the fun for me, and I beleieve is the basis of this forum.

This has been very informative for me. Thanks for all of the good tips....I really like the popcorn idea Kilroy! The trouble we have here is in the fall it is usually productive to do a controlled drift along the shore casting for bass and pike. Usually some moron will pull in and anchor right below the drift so we have to reel in and move out.

Several years ago my wife and I caught our limit of summer flounder (fluke) one day and a guy wanted to know where. I told him the channel markers we were near and that satsified him. The next morning my wife and I headed down the waterway and the same guy was waiting part way to where we were headed. He followed us and when we started fishing he pulled up about 10 feet to our left. We started catching fish, but he did not. We were in 15' of water and he was in 3'. After a while he gave up and moved to another spot. Then a couple of hours later he motored back up the waterway. My wife and I fished most of the day and had another limit. At the dock that evening he said there was no way he was going back to our spot because he sure didn't know how to fish it.

Last time that happened to me it was a toon with 4 people, they thru there lines about 15' in front of my boat.<br />i used a big treble hook and weight and thru across all there lines realed in quickly and cut em. my brother was laughing so hard he droped his real n rod in the lake.<br />I did a few wot circles as we fled the sene.<br /> This is a very large lake no need to fish that close to someone.
