I made more progress yesterday in 1 day than i made in about 3 weeks!!! I think that after you get a lot of stuff out of the way it goes a lot easier!!!. The boat is so light right now. I think im going to have to remove the motor again in order not to stress the structure of the hull too much!!! I got all the wood out and now its like "warp speed" that im working!!!! I got a JOLT of encouragement as now im getting really close to working with NEW MATERIALS instead of holding a grinder for 8 hours at a time. I found though that the previous owner put screws through the hull though. You cant see the screws on the bottom of the hull as just the tips went through but the only way i know that it was done is as i was cleaning the inside of the hull with the 36 grit grinder/sanding disk, sparks came out of no-where!!! I looked under the hull and found the places where the hull most likely was leaking!!! This is the kinda stuff i was looking for though. I cant wait to update my shareaproject page!!!

Re: I got more progress!!!!

I cant believe how light the boat is right now!!! As i start the rebuild now that im close to having nothing but NEW MATERIAL to work with im going to try to save as much weight as possible!!!!! I talkie to a USCG rep yesterday too and they told me the specs for the boat!!! I can have a MAX of 125hp. There is the max of 1,920 lbs persons motor and gear. There is another rating though of 1,280 Lbs or "8" persons without motor and gear. Thats only 160 Lbs per person!!! I dont plan on ever having more than 4 people on there though!!! The guy told me how much flotation that i will need too. And he told me which type to use of the flotation. I have to use the 2LB density flotation. He said that if i use the stiffer flotation that it dosent have the ammount of flotation that the 2LB stuff does. This guy will also do a "Vessel Saftey Check" for me when im dont the rebuild. I will get a sticker also to put on the windshield that it has been checked for safety and complies with USCG standards! I want that sticker when i get done!!!!! Im going to work on updating my shareaproject site as the flyers are loosing 4-0 anyways!!

Here is a pic of the 2X6 stringer system. It is 2X6 everywhere they did not cut it anywhere to make the deck fit correctally. Im going to use 1/2 inch ply to replace this and im going to add 2 others on the outsides that run up to the bow as well. They might not be verry deep but at least they will be there and supporting the deck!! I just cant believe the 2X6's I used it all summer like that too. And i felt confident hitting wakes verry hard and not worring about it!! Ill feel a lot better now hitting wakes when i get a real set of stringers supporting the hull properly!!!

ya drew...yer right down to the nitti gritty.....

dont know what that box is for inbetween the stringers.....the orig design was 4 stringers and 3 frames at 4 foot centers....i can only guess that the previous owner wanted to put a cooler in the floor.....

and man those searays feel good when hitten a wake dont they....solid...

just think how its gonna feel when you know its done right...

and after all that grinding....how do you keep is so clean!!!!!!:D

Re: I got more progress!!!!

I tapped the shop vac hose to the side of the grinder. I run the shop vac and the grinder at the same time. That way the dust comes out of the grinder and right into the shop vac. Its rigged up but it works. The hose is tapped on the right side of the grinder and the debri comes out the right side and gets sucked up right away.
