I have a gas mixer problem I think?

I just bought this 35 Johnson outboard model 35EL78R, 2 spark plugs. It says 50:1. I used regular unleaded gas and Quicksilver premium plus 2-cycle. I replaced the fuel screen at the fuel filter on the engine with a in-line filter on the gas pump line from wal-mart (glass filter).

It started easy and ideal good until I went to full throttled then it just stop. After that I could only go 2 mph, anything faster would stop the motor. It does smoke a little.

When I got home I cleaned the plug which were black and had gas mixer around the threads. I turned the motor over and let the block air out.

I took it out last night and used it for 2 hours at half speed and it worked great until I full throttled it again and it cut out and would then only go 2 mph again. The fuel filter looks clean.

Any ideas, Thanks Paul.

I'd put my spark tester on it right when it fails to confirm proper spark at that point. If it's good, must be fuel (assuming good compression)
