I have put two 2003 Optimax 200 Saltwater engines that were LA dept of natural resources engines on a 26' Twin Vee Weekender.
The thing runs great & is very powerful except starboard engine chirps out of a BRAND NEW compressor
While out on a sea trial it blew the high side hose off
This happened as well as a warning horn keeps sounding continuous without codes
The MarineMax guys propped it & scanned it to say that the warning horn was bad because it got wet (it's plenty loud & goes off & on with the switch) I took a perfect one from our old pair & made it work with a power supply (it will work underwater!)
MarineMax charged $1900 for two used leftover 21 pitch props, two nuts & retainers,a squeeze bulb & 4 wire ties along with 2.5 hours labor Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks, Bob

Re: I have a Optimax Problem

I have always said that there are at least 2 sides to every story, but if what you have written is even close to accurate, The word "rape" comes to mind. First, if the hose blew off the compressor, there is no other excuse than improper installation. The warning horn issue- a faulty horn will not sound at all, and if the scan shows no fault codes, the problem may be with a faulty horn harness, but not the horn itself.
The price- even for 2 NEW SS props and all the rest you listed, unless their labour rate is $500 per hr, it just does not add up.
