I have gas in my intake ? any thoughts

I have a 03' mercury four stroke carburated . I have not used the boat in about a month. I usually run the gas out but this time I didn't . When I tried to start it in the driveway kept dying out and I noticed gasoline in the intake . I drained the carb bowls and ran the motor with premium gas with carb cleaner . Seemed to do the trick . When I took it out 10 miles off shore it shut off , I would start it , I put it in gear and it would die out . 4 hours later my kicker got me back to harbor . How do I fix the problem , carbs were rebuilt a few years ago , prior to this , engine ran good

Sounds like flooding. Time to strip and clean the carbs again paying special attention to the floats.

I would also agree on a stuck needle and seat or damaged float.

Yep. I just played this game with my 200 2 stroke. It ran great on the hose with the engine trimmed down but on the water and trimmed it would die. Fuel was actually running out of the intake when trimmed up. Stripped the carbs and found two floats stuck in the open position.
