I have no fire at the coil

I was given a 1996 40hp Evinrude. I cannot get it started. I checked the coil and it was bad. I replaced it and it still will not fire. I am new to outboard motors. What can I check next? I have also changed the plugs and new plug wires.

first does the motor have a emergency kill switch lanyard ? is this a tiller or remote control motor? electric start?

yes it does have a kill switch, it is a tiller control and it is a electric start. It is an Evinrude ttl 40 hp. The kill switch has the clip in it.

it is not firing on either cylinder or just not on one, and have u tested the rest of the ignition sytem the trigger and etc.

No it is not firing on either cylinder. I do not know what to check next. What is the trigger?
