The boat works fine but the troller was gone. I can't complain though $800 for boat trailer and 50 merc that all are in good shape. So what are the sizes to consider for this boat? A local fisherman mentioned he had a 67lb Motor Guide with the foot cable control for $200. I haven't seen it yet though and don't know why he is selling it so the jury is still out on that one. I fish a lot but am not particularly interested in beating my way through heavy winds and waves as I can go out most anytime I please.

That 67# motor will work very well, but you will need 2 batteries since it's a 24 volt unit. I bet your boat was originally equipped with a more modest motor, and did just fine. You can get 12 volt motors up to 55# thrust.

the 67 is a good trolling motor (i have one) but like nybo said its a 24/12v model and it real needs the 24v especially in the weeds. A better option would be a modern 55lb with power saving option running on 12v only but sometimes it comes down to what you can afford and what is available so the 67 set on 12v may be good enough and if it is not then another battery will allow you to run it on 24v and get all 67lbs out of it.
Check the used one it should have a 12/24v selector switch on the peddle

I have a 55# on my 24' pontoon boat. Does just fine for moving along the shoreline in limited wind. A 55# would do fine for your boat.

If you fish a lot check out the I-pilot 55lb, I have it on a 14.5 ,It will spoil you and a real easy system to learn.
