I just want to cry

Getting ready to go out today and.........

I go through my check list right out front of my house.
I try to start the boat and it won't start. I give it some throttle and it must have slipped into gear and I was in full trim up.

I forgot to lower the prop and now it is making all kinds of grinding noises.



What did I kill?

You will need to remove the outdrive for inspection. Odds are you trashed your universal joint and possibly the gimbal bearing and coupler. It makes no difference whether you were in gear or not...the input shaft on the outdrive always turns with the motor running. Don't fret too much, I see people do that all the time at the landing. It happens. Just get it fixed and back on the water. And welcome to iboats!

It is a 1987 Doral Tara with a 350 I/O Mercruiser.

Time to pull the outdrive and have a look at the damage.
