I have a 1986 harris inboard/outboard 3.0 omc v-6 i think its just a fuel pump issue but what its doing is as soon as i put it in gear its stalling it will run in nuetral when i rev it but when its in gear it stalls. When i did get it to go it just sputtered and would not pick up speed. any ideas if maybe im starting on the right track with a fuel pump

Double check what you actually have. The 3 liter is a straight four as opposed to a v-6.

The 3.0 omc is a 4 cylinder motor. I don't think you need a fuel pump, due to that it runs and revs in "n". TO know for sure you would need to check fuel pressure, it should have 4-6 psi. Also check to make sure your gas tank is vented properly, if not could cause vaporlock. To me it sounds like ignition, like it's missing under a load, could be anything from bad points to a bad valve.
