I know that it always gets asked, and gets covered, but I have not been able to located specific answer so I will ask myself (again, I am sure-my apologies).

I have a 2008 Volvo Penta 5.0 GXi.
Didn't plan on winterizing toatlly this past weekend, but wonder if I did, or did I miss something, probably something important...
What I did was pulled the 2 blue plastic block drains, and broke one-need to but one new one now...replaced with a s.s. bolt, nut, and the o-ring off the plastic plug for temp. fix.
Pulled the two drains from the exhaust manifolds.
AND
Poured a gallon of RV/Marine antifreeze down the tee'd in flush/fitting hose while the motor was running.
It cannot really be that easy is it?
I see that the fuel pump assembly gets cooling water, did the antifreeze make it through if just running for less than a minute?
With the engine cold, does any anti-freeze make it past the thermostat into the intake manifold, heads, and block?
Is there an oil/power steering cooler like a Merc?
Does the outdrive have an concerns?
Any link(s) to maual or schematic showing proper procedures???
My first year doing this boat/motor/outdrive. HATE to find out the hard way, but looks like it may have been the easiest drain and fill I ever did...again, it cannot be that simple is it?
VERY much appreciate any help, links, advice. THANKS

I just ran through what I did this weekend because I am headed to surgery this week and will be laid up for a couple weeks. I don't plan on a hard freeze here in Michigan for a while, but didn't want to leave it entirely full of lake water just in case either.

Once more, THANK YOU!!

Your boat should have come with a Volvo Penta engine manual that details how to winterized your engine. If it didn't, buying one costs about what five gallons of gas cost.

The manual shows a little in a section on flushing the engine, but it's winterization section states to see authorized dealer for proper winterization. Have always done my own and hope to continue.

There is a section in the owners manual on draining the engine (page 97 if you have a J model engine). It's not under winterizing.
Here is basic information on winterization. http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=178695
To fog the engine, you can't just squirt fogging oil in like you do on carbed engines, here is the procedure for fogging the MPI engines.
You don't need to mix up the full 6 gallons, mix up one, then after fogging pour what's left in the fuel tank.

Thanks for that too.
I actually disconnect the fuel pump and run the tank as close to dry as I can in my boat.
I am using the line of thought that the methanol in fuel is a spongue, absorbing moisture from the atmosphere. I get that spongue as small as I can before winter staorage. I removed the fuel filter and add a mix of Marvel Mystery oil and fresh gas. Similar to the 2 stroke oil in an outboard tank. I knew not to do the old scholl fogging and heard of this method a few years back. I had a carb'd boat then, this is my first MPI, but I remembered.
I sure appreciate the bulletin!
My main concern is freezing and getting the cooling system safe.
The draining section did show the 4 blue drain plugs which I pulled, but didn't see much more in there.
Made me worried about the rest of the top end of the motor:intake, heads, etc. Wondering if any of the pink stuff made it past the thermostat...
