Was a great season this year. I thought i got out quite a few times considering i have two small kids. Once i winterized and looked at my old water separating filter... i only added 12 ish hours to the clock this season. We do spend a lot of time tied up tho.

Anyhow, boat is now in storage and i am missing it already. I went ahead and got new wheels and tires and already sold the old ones on Craigslist. They were about 4 years old. The sale more than paid for the new wheels, so it was worth it to me. I bought a new two person tube and tow rope. I have a new 4 blade prop on its way. And a few other odd s and ends on order.

I have been looking at a snap cockpit and bow cover that i found on ebay. I was looking at and pricing some seadek for the swim step. Then got sidetracked looking at swim platforms. Then i thought about a drive shower. Its only been a week since the boat has been in storage! At this rate, i wont have any gas money for next season :).

Please tell me i am not the only one that enjoys boating and all things boats this much. I sure hope the feeling doesn't ever fade... i have seen two of my neighbors sell their boats after being into boating for 10+ years because they were tired if it. I dont want to ever be one of those guys!

You're not the only one !!! Those are nicer rims than I have on my F-150. How about some underwater "mood" lighting for those evening cruises !!!

I am with you on that one, did have a few more hours than you but not as much as I should have. Here in the state of Ohio (lake Erie)
we had such a strong heatwave that no one wanted to go out when it was almost 100 degrees. The months of july and august the boat just sat in the barn. Looking forward to next yr though, planning some short cruise trips.

I have thought about that... not sure how well they would work in the muddy water we have around here. Put your hand in 6" into the water and it vanishes! Water stays nice and cool during the hot summers.

Re: I love boats! ... maybe too much?

The Admiral doesn't like "cold weather" boating, so I use this time of year for little projects on the boat. Keeps me playin' with it all year too. I think we're all a little obsessive that way :D

You are far from the only one to spend as much on goodies/upgrades in the off season than you do on fuel in the summer.

My wife looks at me kinda strange every time a new box shows up full of "boat crap" (her words) she doesn't get that everything boat/water related is cheaper in the winter.

LOL! My wife says, is that boat crap too! Then she does ask if its a new prop or new wheels. Usually i am the first home so i can stash the goodies and no one is the wiser. Sometimes she checks on me out in the garage and i see her eyes looking around... wondering what the heck i have in there. Once in a while she will ask... so how many props do you have. I just respond... not enough :).

Its all good. Glad to hear you guys have the fever too. I wish i could rack up a good amount of hours in a season... but i will take what i can get. Some is WAY better than none. And 140 is amazing.

My boat has been my retirement, I work on it and use it daily and I dont really know what I'd do without it, I've only owned it two years and I've put 700 hrs on it. So you my friend, are (normal)

12 hours? doesn't seem like gas money is an issue. I know it's hard with small children, but you need to be IN the boat more, not AROUND it! Tell your wife we said it's bad to let them sit.

I found with small children it's easier to have 2 four year olds than one on board. Take the oldest and a friend or two (or better a dad with one that age) to give your wife a half break at home.

Boating is a good clean hobby. If it wasn't boating, it'd be something else. And, some hobbies might even be something more expensive than boats--like chasing women.

On the water, I can do something my wife actually adores, and she goes with me.

There again, she likes riding in my other hobby--a Jaguar convertible. Boats are cheaper to maintain than any Jag.

Re: I love boats! ... maybe too much?

i can't stop thinking of my boat. I had to get my fix in and drive out to where my boat is stored for the winter and stare at it for a good 10 minutes. Everyday surfing the web for deals and add-ons. Living up here in the great white north. Having a snowmobile is a must, or it's a very long winter. With only 8 hours of daylight in the middle of January, depression can set in very easily. If I am not enjoying myself carving a nice line down a mountain with my sled, I am daydreaming of my wife and I chillin out on our swim grid with a cold one goin down the hatch. Nothing beats a windless, 30degree celcius day on the water.

Snickers. Well Its close to the time to pull mine off of the slip and yes I do have a full cover that would work just fine for the winter but I am very strongly considering making up a cover so I can slip under it over the winter to tinker around with stuff and the thing is their isn't really much to do.
So yea its normal. :faint2:

Do it ;) I love seadek, as you probably know if you read my boat's thread.

I love the new trailer wheels! I need to do something like that on mine as well.

Correction..... You don't "NEED" to do that to your boat, you just WANT to.

Yeah, i saw your thread. I like that stingray.i*wish i could keep up with you with all the upgrades. I think everything looks nice and clean. Cant beat black and white. Goodjob.

I was thinking that the seadek would keep me from wanting a swim platform so much. I did order a set of samples the other day. So we will see how it feels/ looks...

Trailer wheels are easy... since they are 14 or 15 inch, they are cheap.... as wheels go. Plus, single axle trailer... makes it even easier! I think they help set it apart from the norm. Seems to update my boat/trailer looks as well. I keep looking at them and i think they look too inviting, so i bought some wheel locks.
