I bought my boat a new one. At 620 hours, something inside gave and the original ground itself to junk before I reached the marina. I got the mechanic over to the slip to listen to the horrible noises it made while idling. I asked him: "What kind of noise is that?" He said: "An expensive one."

So, my new Bravo 3 drive arrived on a pallet last week, and was installed in a few hours. At least the labor charges weren't much. The mechanics cleaned one of the torn up gears and gave it to me. They said I could put it on my desk and have the most expensive paperweight in Texas.

Sigh...

You and the mechanic(s) are on the same page. They said both needed replaced. I got a *whole* new outdrive, from the u-joints to the prop shaft. :)

Hope you kept the old drive parts, or at least got some off the new drive. The housing and parts are worth some money.

Any ideas on what happened? That seems like pretty low hours for it to fail.
