I drained the old fuel out of the fuel lines, got fresh fuel in the tank, hooked up the muffs, crossed my fingers for luck, choked the motor and it fired right up. (see earlier post) It ran, sputtered and died a time or two, then caught and ran like a champ. I let it run a minute or two then shut it down. I think I will run some Seafoam through it, might run my 6 gallon tank low then put some seafoam in it and run it out. Sound like a good idea ???

I gotta say it again; I love my Johnson!!

Re: I love my Johnson!!!

why not do a decarb. then use seafoam to keep it clean.

Decarb, take a can of seafoam put 3/4 of it in the gas tank, with only 1 gallon of premixed gas. put the rest in a spray bottle. start the engine, and let it come up to temperature. then remove plugs, and them some real good shot of seafoam into the cylinders, replace plugs, let sit 15 minutes. restart, and spray the rest of the seafoam into the carbs, so the the motor almost stalls, wait and repeat until the seafoam is gone.then take for a wide open spin. then put in new plugs, ad premixed gas to the tank, and take it for a wide open throttle spin. it is going to smoke like a house on fire, during this process.

afterwards compression.recheck

Thanks Tash, life been a lil crazy and i have been away. Can I de-carb it with muffs in my yard, or do i need to go to the lake? I am like 30-40 minutes away from the lake and dont like the idea of working on it while it rocks back and forth.

Definitely do it while on the muffs. This keeps the lakes clean and also is easier to work on, as you said....tough in a rocking boat.
