I need a bellows kit

I have a 78 Mercruiser Outdrive and need to get a bellows kit for it.

I have found a wide range of prices for them on E-bay and Amazon. The cheapest say Aftermarket kit, the next step up in price is Sierra brand and then the most expensive are Mercury brand.

The Mercury ones are a LOT more expensive and unless the others are deemed to be pure junk. I don't think I will buy one of their kits, but the Sierra's are are only $20-$30 more.

I have generally found Sierra products to be good quality and am inclined to get one of their kits.

Has anyone used the "Aftermarket Bellows Kit"? Is the quality OK?

What about the Sierra Kit? How is their quality for bellows kit?

Thanks, Joel

Re: I need a bellows kit

I put two of the aftermarket kits on my 28'er and am already seeing the start of cracks in under 2 years.... I'll be putting sierra stuff on in the spring

I also replaced gimbal bearings, shift levers, impellers, and all seals in the drives. and I bought an alignment tool to properly adjust the motor mounts.

This time I'll also be replacing my shift cables as they are dragging a little and new ones shift sooooo nice.

Thanks for the reply. Any other opinions on the quality of the Sierra Bellows Kits?
