I tried this on Facebook, and it didn't turn out so well. I have a boat with no name. We can't seem to agree on one name. I have a 20' Glastron 205 SF with a 5.0 L Volvo, 55lb trolling motor. We need a family friendly name. At first I was thinking Sea Monkeys. But we're not really on the sea (Midwest, Wisconsin). One day recently, we were on the lake, talking about a name, and my 10 yr old daughter said we should name it Shirley. So I kind of thought Shirley Whett would be a good name. But my 14 yr old son and wife like the name Fishing Impossible, especially since we don't usually catch much fish. I'm still torn about the name, what are you're thoughts?

We like these type of threads. BUT, the rule is..You gotta tell us what you picked. This one I'll keep clean, Inject a little rythm and blues, add in a 70's sitcom, and it's a FAMILY AFFAIR.

Well if you love to fish you could always go with "Basstron". If you want to include your daughters input then Shirley's Basstron?

It's a 20 footer so theres 20 feet over the sea or something to that affect.

Try combining your kids names or initials to make a name

Re: I NEED a boat name!

When we got our boat from grandma, rescued from 20 year storage, many of the letters/numbers were missing. All that was left was:

MO 0 B A

My 10-year-old daughter immediately named it, pronounced "moe - OWE - buh"

Anyway, how about:

Swimming Suite
FamLilly Pad
Kidfisher
Cove Skipper
Reel Hot Rod

Have fun,

I named my 20' Thundercraft after my 9 year old daughter and myself:

How about..
"Shirley U Jest"
"Fishing Monkeys"
(Or since you're from Wisconsin..)
"Cutting The Cheese" :D

Re: I NEED a boat name!

My first boat was called "WEEKEND HOOKER"
My next boat was a Searay and was named "SANDY" and we referred to her as Sandy Searay.
My next boat was "SUN OF THE BEACH"
My Current boat is a 1973 Glastron Carlson and when I get the metal flake redone it will have "007" on the transom.

Worm Dunker
Aquaholic
The Dirty Oar
...all names my wife put the kabosh on for my boat.

I'd say don't rush. Get to know the boat, you'll eventually learn it's "personality" and naming it will be a little easier.
Write down all the names on a paper on the 'fridge. What you think sounds great today you may decide sounds like cr@p tomorrow so take time to think on them.

My wife name is Janice Mary, doesn't really flow as a boat name so was gonna flip it around and change it up a little, call the boat the Mary Jane but a local law enforcement friend informed me it'd probably be a bad idea. So, I'm in the same boat as you (no pun intended...well, maybe a little) as I have a boat with no name. Mine is a Starcraft aluminum boat with an interior totally covered is fuzzy blue carpet, reminds us of Grover, the muppet, but can't name a boat a guy name...gotta be female.

Good luck.

With a tip-o-the-hat to PETA,

I want to see someone name their boat "Sea-Kitten Killer"

Mine is Leaky-Hull.

Re: I NEED a boat name!

My first boat (which I stiil have 38 years later) was called Emily-effer--shorten the Emily. Since I aged and mellowed some she is now just Emily.

My latest is Amanda Ford. I acquired her with that name and just kept it. Didn't want to go through the supersticious rigamarole of renaming and appeasing Neptune. She was named after the original owner's grandaughter and his wife's maiden name.

Since Glastrons were used extensively in James Bond movies, why not use your last name in the format "Bond, James Bond"? Or some other of his famous tag lines or movie titles? Or, how about some of his ladies names? (Exclude miss P---y Galore)
