i just bought my wake board and me and my friends rode it for the first time yesterday. i just bought a cheap rope at basspro. i think i paid like 20 or 30 dollars for it. about 4 (out of many. lol) times we fell or let go the rope came off the eye of the boat. my guess is that the cheap rope is streching alot because even when i cut into the wake i dont think im getting as much speed as i should be.

anyway ive got a good handle already i just need a line. dose anybody have one that they realy like that you could sugest to me??

thanks

My guess is that you are attaching it wrong since there is no way it will come out of the eye from stretching.

Take the rope and put it through the eye, wrap under the bottom and then over the hook

Hmm. I did not Ono there was a method to attaching it. Ill give that a try. However I still would like a better rope because I can feel the rope stretching. And tips on brand or model?

If its stretching at all then you dont have a wakeboarding rope. Wakeboarding ropes are braided a certain way to keep it from streching. Got to Overtons and they have a few for 30-50 bucks. the blue one with the floating handle is the one i have, dont remember the brand but its like the most popular one so it comes up first when you search.

Try hooking it up right and then decide if you still think it is stretching

The wakeboarding ropes are made from "Spectra" which is a Ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene cord rope and are ZERO stretch. It is also a lot thinner than your standard ski ropes which stretch and give. There are some ropes that are labeled wakeboard ropes with low-stretch, they are still garbage.

Cheap and wakeboard ropes are not one in the same...but this is probably the best you'll find for low cost..

i dont think the rope i have is a wakeboard rope. i think its a ski rope. at the time i thought the only differance was the handle width.

i dont think how i hook up the rope will make a differance as far as stretch.

tegll001, is there anyway you could be more specifiic about what line you have? i looked and there was about 3-4 blue ropes with floating handles

and yes i realize a wakeboard rope isnt cheap i just dont want to spend 100+ on one. between 50-75 is what i was thinking

thanks everybody. keep them coming

Think about what had to happen for the rope to fall off ;)

oh ya, you might have a point. however the line i have has only been used maybe 10 times and it is already starting to frey. so my plan is to just buy a good rope and use it for myself and let all my friends that dont help pitch in for gas use the cheap junk rope. haha
