--------------------------------------------------------------------------------<br />i have a 1960 johnson supersea horse 40hp rds 22 seral # 2128547 i need a head gastket.head cover gasket water pump impeller.thermostat and do i need any gaskets when i change impeller for the lower unit any help i would be greatful for o and when i put the new compression relief valves in do i need any thing to make them seal or being new will they seal them selfs ????????????<br /><br />--------------------<br />pinto

I have the head gasket, head water jacket gasket, and the compression release cover gaskets if you're interested and they are not available on this site. (Address below)<br /><br />The impeller #377230 can most likely be found at NAPA..... and of course at your local dealership at a somewhat higher price.

On the relief valves, if there is'nt an eroded, or burn'rt channel in the valve seat, it would not hurt to lap them in. This is done with the retainer, and spring off the valve. You put fine valve lapping compound between the valve, and seat. You push down, and rotate the valve back, and forth with a screw driver. That is what the slot in the valve head is for. Lapping compound is available at any auto store.
