I need to change the prop on my Johnson 100 and I'm not sure what is needed. The boat is moored in the marina and I need to try and do this with the boat in the water and the motor tilted up. I know there is a slip pin but other than that I'm not sure.

Thanks Naslund

Just take out the cotter pin, undo the nut, then remove the prop. Make sure you take everything off and replace it in the reverse order, check for old fishing line while you're at it that is wound around the shaft.

Better grease the splines with some good marine grease while you've got the prop off - if you want to get it off again someday.

There is a large thrust washer at the rear of the prop and a spacer at the front. Be careful not to drop them - you will need them for the new propeller.

Don't forget of course to get a prop wrench..they're good to have and not expensive. Also get yourself some extra cotter pins. Changing your prop in the water with it trimmed up is very normal.
