First of all..I have a 88' merc 4.6l v6 175hp, thunderbolt IV idgnition.
Please bear with me........
About a month ago I got my boat out and put my muffs on it to warm it up before I headed to the lake, stated just fine. Pulled the boat 30min to lake, backed it down the ramp and it flooded itself and would never start. Pulled it back home and when I tried to start it again it fired up on the first try, I was pissed.
So I pulled the boat out where I could back it down an incline. I then took the air cleaner off and when I backed it down the incline gas was just pouring into the carb.
So, then I took the carb apart and adjusted the float level, put it back together and backed it down and she started right up..
Haven't got a chance to run it until today.
Pulled it to the lake this afternoon, backed her down and she fired right up. While I was waiting(10 min) for my wife to park the truck I was idleing around the ramp area and she died, and would never restart. Had to be towed to the ramp! Got home got out of truck and started the boat and it fired up like nothing was ever wrong, and I can't make it die in the driveway.
Okay, now that I've waisted 1/2 hour of your life, the question is, did I screw up by adjusting the float level? Does this motor have a water/fuel speator?
I don't know what to do next, any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanx, jason
