I have an 1987 50 horse merc it will and run fine for about 2 or 3 minutes then it just dies and does not want to restart thought it might be plugs earler but think I might have a problem with fuel. If you pull the cover off of the carbs and squeeze the primer bulb should you be able to see gas entering the carbs? Next how hard is it to pull and rebuild the carbs. Being an auto mechanic and a fighter jet menchanic is this something I should be able to swing a book or something?

No, you will not see fuel entering the carbs from pumpimg the bulb. That will just keep the float bowls full of fuel. If you are an auto Mech. you will have NO problem rebuilding the carbs. Have you tried squeezing the bulb when it starts to die? Also, take a spray bottle and shoot some pre-mix into the carb throats when it's dying and see if it speeds up. If either of these help, rebuild the carbs. Basic tools, Rebuild kits and a Manual will do it! Manuals can be had at the bottom of this page and if you get stuck, just holler...
