I took a picture of the carb linkage before tear down to perform a rebuild but the picture did not have flash in it which means... unseeable! I have the carb kit and the only things that I question are the linkage because I do not no where the upper linkage goes. My Merc Carb 2BL has an arm for the "throttle valves" that has 3 open spots for the top of the linkage. For the life of me... I think it goes in the middle hole but after a week at work I can't remember and I can't use the picture I had because I can't see it. I'm only guessing because I see "wear points" where it looks like its originally from there. The second is the float assembly. It has a 3-sided metal housing that the pin goes through that holds the float. I am stumbling on the gasket part. Does the metal housing housing and float rest on top of the bowl gasket even though there is a cut out in the body for the metal housing to fit into. The manual says to put the gasket on first then everything else after, but if I do that... the metal housing sits on top of the gasket. The other question is the idle mixture screw... from all the way to seat I hear one marina telling me to back out 1 1/2 turns then back out 1/2 of a turn to make it 1 turn out from seat but do this while running, then adjust the idle screw down to drop idle rpm. I have the manual but I REALLY want ANYONES input before I trust the Clymer manual. Boat serial info is in my profile below.

Throw some pictures at us.

Just about ALL (except some omc ob models) idle screws start at 1 1/2.

With the Mercarb and it's single needle you will find (after it is warmed up) the needle will have one sweet spot.
