We recently bought bayliner 1500 with an 89 force on the back. It was a very good deal but the engine needs work. Right now it's only running on one piston. Who knows? We may not even bother and start saving for some other 50 with a bit more bite.

Anyway, our local mechanic looked at it briefly and suggested that we take it to someone who knows these engines a bit better because (with out opening it up) it needs a lot of work and probably a lot of parts.

(I may be mistaken but from what I've been reading, a 50hp force is more like a 40hp of the other big brands. Which means that this engine has been overworking for a long time)

Anyway, we are looking for a force familiar shop either in the parry sound area, the toronto area, or the London area.

there are a few quick tests that you can do yourself to get started. you should do a compression test and a spark test. This will help you determine weather to repair or repower. the 2 testers may cost you $30-40 but could save you hundreds. I have a 1990 50hp very easy to work on.
