Hello everyone, im new to the forum and also new to boating, i just bought a 74 starcraft capri for $50 boat and trailer the boat floats fine took it out yesterday i had a blast for being my first time owning a boat and being on one, well i have a issue with the trailer, i need to replace a roller and also raise my bow roller up one more notch, now i cant do any of this while the boat is still on the trailer, is there anyway i can raise the bow of the boat up just enough where i can do both of these or would it just be easier to go drop the boat in the water and tie it to the dock?

If your trailer has a jack on the front you can use it to your advantage. Jack it all the way up, make sure you block the trailer wheels well on both sides. Loosen but don't remove your bow strap and transom tiedowns. Using blocking or a jack stand with suitable padding under the keel, and no more than a third of the way back from the bow, block it up. Now slowly let the trailer jack down till you can replace the roller.

do it with an empty trailer; not as risky. Just don't hold people up at a public ramp!

Add a jack so your boat can drain when it's sitting on the trailer.

Congrats on getting a running BMT for $50! Your insurance will cost more than the boat!

what does BMT mean? and for now i bought a 32 lb thrust trolling motor for now.. i mainly want the boat for fishing and im going to eventually get a big outboard but for now where i can take my boat in town the trolling motor did fine. and im not getting insurence on it. i dont plan to have anyone near me lol and everybody thats out boating where i can go in town there all very skilled and respectful so they hold there boat back from yours at the dock, found that out the other day when i took it out for the first time they was holding on to my boat and pushing theres back at the dock,

Down the road if you can, install rollers by Stoltz...they are kinda amber in color and they will last you a long time, Bass Pro Shopps sells them (check them out on line, and no ...i don't work for Stoltz or BPS).
