the service manual on the advice of the world if boaters, That the adhesive used to embed certain gaskets in is omc since that is not available is the mercury stuff okay for bellows and exhaust y gasket or should I use a small amount of Red in the Exhaust y pipe groove. Also I noticed Frisco boater when replacing his transom seal used a bead of a 3m product on the rubber is that pretty much standard practice now.

My opinion
I would use Merc bellows adhesive for putting bellows and transom gaskets
If the OMC uses a O-ring for the Y pipe, I would ensure surfaces are flat and use only the O-ring and maybe bellows adhesive to keep it in place during assembly

I use permatex #3 for machined mating surfaces as well as coating seals, etc.
standard grease for o-rings
and 3M weather striping adhesive (yellow gorilla snot) for holding bellows

Ayuh,..... 'n any nuts, bolts, or studs ya think ya might wanta take apart someday, Especially those that "Normally" Corrode,.....

I usually use the Merc bellows adhesive, just because I ain't figured out whether it's the exact same stuff as the 3M weather striping adhesive (yellow gorilla snot),.....

Or the ole 3M sandin' disc adhesive We used to use, before velcro sandpaper,..??

Or,..... Are they the same (yellow gorilla snot), Anyways,..??..??....

Could be the same gorilla snot. My buddyvuses it to secure lug nuts to the rims on his race car for quick tire changes in the pits. It sticks and stretches
