I have a 2000 ox 66 250 it ran low on oil and went into return to Port mode. I filled oil reserve tank and held switch to fill motor tank and now boat will not rev over 3000 rpm
I ran my o 66 250 low on oil no alarm buzzed but it powered down and realized the problem I filled the boat side tank up and held switch on and filled motor tank up but now boat won't go over 3000rpms
you may have hurt the motor if the alarm did not get you to stop before running out of oil completely.
I was under the impression the the low oil or overheat would limit RPM to about 2000 not 3000. so you may need to be checking compression, spark, timing, plugs, wires. coils, fuel ,etc
