I have always run antifreeze through my outboards but reading from the link on the FAQ:

"outboard motors are self draining and require no anti-freeze for storage"

I wish I had know this 8 winters ago would have saved me a few hours each season and a couple of dollars. Could this be true?

It's true. As long as they are vertical, they will drain.

DJ is 100% right. Outboards are self draining if stored down.

They are self draining but you have to rotate the crank a few times to get all the water out of the water pump when vertical. And make sure you change the LU oil as if there's water in there it could freeze and crack the LU. (ask me how I know!)

This is for an outboard, right? Inboards are away different story.
