Well guys I installed a hardin water pickup kit a couple of months back.. well apparently I didn't install the plastic piece that holds the rubber hose in the bravo outdrive.. it came loose .. fell back towards the transom and not only kinked but now there's cuts on the side. I was starting to overheat .. that's when I looked and found it. Do I have to replace the entire hose again or can I cut out the bad section and install a coupler to ride out the rest of the boating season?

I'd say that would require a do-over to make it right. Boats never seem to let you off easy.

So installing a coupler and a new section of hose would be a crazy idea? I was thinking down the line of something like this in the picture

I would not do it, because I do not think it would work out for very long. The hose needs to be flexible and that would create a rigid section; the results would be unknown. Might do more harm than good.
