I bought my first boat about 2 months ago and the tach has never worked.. i have taken the boat out over 8 times since ive gotten it and about every other time i take the battery inside and put it on the charger to be safe..
so i was trying to troubleshoot the tach and that brought me to the rectifier so i ran a multimeter to the battery started up the boat on the muffs and no change then reved it to 3k and left for a min and the volts dropped maybe .1.. the battery was at about 11.5 volts and dropping to 10.5 while turning over.. obviously my engine isnt being charged is it possible to go out in the boat 12 hours and run a tank an a half through it and not get a dead battery? its a brand new battery by the way..
so im sure im going to have to replace the rectifier but i have no idea what it looks like and where it is.. ive been searching and while ive found testing procedures i cant find a picture of an install..
