Hi I have a carbed chev 350 with a holley dual feed 600 marine carb. The bracket on the intake manifold that holds the throttle cable is to close to the carb( or so it seems) and I am not getting enough movement on the cable to open the carb plate 100%

I have the wrong cable bracket

OR..I need a very long throttle bracket on the carb..The end of the cable that hooks to the carb wants to be about 2 or so inches farther forward than in this pic

very sure the cable is good and so is the contoller

The pics are not mine but taken from the internet

Re: I thing I have the wrong throttle bracket

I know being a vac that the big plates dont open. But its the front smaller ones that I dont open 100% unless I jerry rig a 3.5 inch long bracket off the carb.but that lifts the cable too hi in the air and makes for a bad angle

Re: I thing I have the wrong throttle bracket

If you mean up at the helm I could. Why what ya thinking.
Is there other cable brackets for this that I dont know of. Cant find anything on it.
If i could move the throttle cable bracket back about 3 inches or so it would work. But that goes aginst every pic I have seen of this set up.

ok i found a pic of something that might help where can i get this bracket that is on the carb in this pic

Re: I thing I have the wrong throttle bracket

what you have is the standard VP cable bracket. there may be adjustment on the helm end to get you more stroke.

take a picture of what you actually have vs internet pictures. it would help us to see exactly what you have.

Ayuh,.... What's with all the junk bolted to the carb actuator,..??

Move the cable end closer to the pivot to lessen the angle, 'n shorten the stroke...

Re: I thing I have the wrong throttle bracket

That engine came with a rochester Quadjet spread bore carb. Your problem stems from trying to retrofit a holley to it. You may get it to work right, however your carb should be a direct bolt in line up item. I have the same egine in my boat, I swapped the block for a 350 and it is running like a champ. I can provide photos if you would like showing what mine looks like. The model of carb is a 4MV if you are interested in getting the proper carb for that engine.

Volvos used Holley carbs on many engines.
