Why?

I brought her home and started her and ants came out of the pee hole.

Water never came out so I replaced the impeller.

About 100 ants came out under pressure.

I was shocked!

I should have named mine something to do with bees. I removed like 100 yellow jacket nests from up under the closed bow and the gunnels. It was nuts. I was still finding them like a year later in some of the more out of the way places.

I give a quick spray of insecticide about every 3 weeks in any "quiet" places on board. Seems to keep them all at bay !!

I totally agree! At the beginning of each year, I spray under the dash and anywhere they can make a nest.
Last year there was over 10 nests in my boat. I thought I got them all, but when we were out boating, and then stopped the boat, they came out of no-where and started attacking us.
I got rid of them. I banged on the dash and more of them came out, so I started the motor and took off. They followed for a bit, but could not keep up.
It was freaky though, I must admit!
