It looks like I have blown another Regulator / Rectifier and at $120 I can?t afford a replacement right now. Can I run for the holiday weekend with it disconnected or will I damage to the Stater? I figure I?ll have to charge the battery each night, is there any thing else I'll have to do.

Depends on the motor. If it relies on the battery for injector or ignition operation, I wouldn't chance it. If you do a lot of starting and stopping, I wouldn't chance it.

The vast majority of reg/rect failures involve crossed, loose, or corroded battery connections.

Re: I Think I've Got Another Blown Reg / Rec

Thanks for the tip WillyBWrite. I forgot to mention it?s an 86 90hp VRO with VRO disabled and 10amp Reg / Rec. The problem was a temp alarm.

This past spring when this happened I replaced the water pump, cleaned the scale from the water jacket around the cylinders, and the heads, and inside the block where the Reg / Rec mounts, repositioned the water jacket diverters, replaced the thermostats and pop off seats, and last (the thing that stopped the temp alarms) replaced the Reg / Rec.

I took it out yesterday afternoon and ran it for about an hour with no problem. I wired a 40 amp automotive amp meter into the system the way the OMC book says to and the Reg / Rec worked as expected showing a peak of around 7 amps at 4500 rpm then dropping off as the battery charged. I also brought a temp reading multi meter with me and it showed the engine running at around 120 deg. All perfectly normal so maybe it was a false alarm.
