I think the battery is toast. Now what?

So on my new-to-me boat that I've had on the water once, it appears the battery may be toast. Before I took it out the first time I tested for power and it was dead, so I threw on the charger overnight. It started on the lake and I never turned it off for fear of being dead. I plan on going out on Friday so I again tested for power (tried the radio... dead). So... what is killing the battery? It's been 3 weeks since I had it out. Shouldn't discharge that quickly.

So anyway, I think I'll get a replacement. But what do I get? I see "marine starting batteries" and "deep cycle batteries" and "marine starting and deep cycle batteries". I may eventually go with two batteries, one for the engine and one for the radio/fish-finder, but for now I just wanna go do some fishing and maybe play some tunes while cruising. Should I just bite the bullet and buy two batteries? Maybe I'll take the one out and get it tested... see if it's really fubar or if my boat is leaking power somewhere... ahhh, let the fun and games begin.

How old is your batt? It may be that it's just not holding a charge. It will take a charge, but will draw down very rapidly. Pull it out and have it tested at an auto parts store.

Don't know how old it is... I just bought the boat in May. I'll pick up a "starting battery" for now so I can get out on the water and worry about deep cycles and switches and stereos and crap later.
